سمو الأمير محمد بن نواف : الحج يقدم الأمثلة الرائعة في المساواة و السلام بين البشر و حكومة المملكة تهتم بحياة الناس و تبذل الكثير لخدمة ضيوف الرحمن.

أقيم يوم الأربعاء 25  يناير 2012 م مؤتمر إعلامي في المتحف البريطاني بلندن حضره جمع كبير من الوسائل الإعلامية البريطانية و العربية و الإسلامية قبل يوم واحد من تدشين معرض" الحج: رحلة إلى قلب العالم الإسلامي " بحضور صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير محمد بن نواف بن عبد العزيز سفير خادم الحرمين الشريفين في لندن و معالي الأستاذ فيصل بن عبد الرحمن بن معمر المشرف العام على مكتبة الملك عبد العزيز العامة.
و في البداية تحدث الدكتور نيل ماك جريجر مدير المتحف البريطاني عن فكرة المعرض و أهدافه و أقسامه مبيناً أهمية الحج باعتباره الركن الخامس للإسلام و أنه من أعظم الظواهر في العالم و له أثر عظيم في حياة كثير من الناس. و أشار ماك جريجر إلى " أننا لا نستطيع التعبير عن أركان الإسلام الخمسة جميعها، لكن يكفي أن نشير إلى الحج من ناحيتين الأولى التجربة الروحية التي يمر بها الحجاج و الثانية وضع البنى والخدمات في الحج و المشاعر المقدسة. و قد حاولنا الجمع في المعرض بين الجانبين".
و قال مدير المتحف البريطاني: " إن هذه الشعيرة التي أداها الرسول (صلى الله عليه و سلم) و تعود إلى آدم (عليه السلام) جعلنا نستعرض طريقة الوصول إلى مكة (المكرمة) خلال القرون المتتابعة من خلال وسائل النقل المتعددة التي تطورت إلى الوضع الحالي " و في ختام كلمته شكر الدكتور ماك جريجر كل من أسهم في تزويد المعرض بالقطع و المعروضات و على رأسهم مكتبة الملك عبد العزيز العامة بالرياض. كما بين أن من المهم أن نتذكر أن واجب رعاية الحج كان يقع على عاتق الحاكم لضرورة تمكين المسلمين من القيام به، و هذا أمر مهم و مركزي، و هو الذي جعل مسؤولية الحج تقع على عاتق المملكة العربية السعودية بقيادة خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك عبد الله بن عبد العزيز. و قال مدير المتحف: " لم يكن ممكناً إقامة المعرض دون وجود راعي الحج القائم بمسؤولياته، و هي المملكة العربية السعودية. لذا نتشرف بوجود سفير خادم الحرمين الشريفين الأمير محمد بن نواف بن عبد العزيز هنا اليوم".

ثم تقدم سمو الأمير محمد بن نواف بكلمة ضافية شكر فيها المتحف البريطاني و مديره و المنسقة الدكتورة فانيشيا بورتر و معالي الأستاذ فيصل بن معمر. و بين سموه أهمية الحج في الإسلام و أنه يجب على كل مسلم مرة في العمر إذا كان مستطيعاً. كما بين سمو السفير أن الحج يأتي على رأس اهتمامات المسلمين و الرحلات التي يقومون بها من الرجال و النساء و الصغار و الكبار و أن المعرض إنما يقدم فكرة مختصرة عن هذا الركن العظيم و تطوره عبر القرون".
ثم بين صاحب السمو الملكي الأمير محمد بن نواف أن الحج يقدم الأمثلة الرائعة في المساواة و السلام بين البشر و أن حكومة المملكة تهتم بحياة الناس و تعدها من أهم الأمور و لذلك تبذل الكثير من الجهد و المال للقيام بخدمة ضيوف الرحمن و تهتم بالمدينتين المقدستين مكة المكرمة و المدينة المنورة.
و في ختام كلمته  كرر الشكر للحضور من الإعلاميين و للقائمين على المعرض و توقع للمعرض نجاحاً كبيراً بحول الله.
بعد ذلك تحدثت الدكتورة فانيشيا بورتر منسقة المعرض فبينت الصعوبة التي واجهها المسؤولون في المتحف في تقرير كيفية عكس معاني الحج العظيمة التي بقيت مستمرة على مر القرون من خلال المعرض . و وضحت الدكتورة بورتر أن المعرض ينقسم إلى ثلاثة عناصر أولها طرق الوصول إلى الحج و وسائل النقل و الثاني كيفية بقاء الحجاج في مكة و المشاعر المقدسة و أداء المناسك و وصف للمكان من خلال بعض القطع الفنية و اللوحات المعبرة ثم القسم الثالث المتمثل في كيفية تغيير الحج لحياة الحجاج و وصف رحلاتهم و ما يحملون معهم إلى بلدانهم من مكة المكرمة بعد أداء الحج.
و أشارت منسقة المعرض في المتحف البريطاني إلى القطع الأثرية الثمينة و الصور القديمة و الحديثة التي وصلت إلى المعرض من مصادر متعددة من بينها بطبيعة الحال مكتبة الملك عبد العزيز العامة، و في معرض حديثها عن رحلات الحج قالت فانيشيا بورتر إن درب زبيدة الذي زودت المعرض بآثار منه متاحف في المملكة العربية السعودية هي من أهم الآثار التي يحويها المعرض. و ختمت المنسقة بورتر شرحها بالإشارة  إلى مشهد الوقوف أمام الكعبة الشريفة الذي أذهل القدماء و المحدثين من الحجاج و زوار المسجد الحرام الذين عبروا عن ذلك بمختلف الوسائل التي تشير إلى عظم هذا المكان و جلال هذه الشعيرة.

 
و بعد هذه الكلمات المختصرة تجول معالي الأستاذ فيصل بن معمر المشرف العام على مكتبة الملك عبد العزيز في أرجاء المعرض و تحدث إلى بعض الإعلاميين الحضور و استعرض مع بعض القائمين على المعرض الأهمية التاريخية  لبعض القطع المعروضة.
جدير بالذكر أن المعرض قد خصص هذا اليوم كاملاً للإعلاميين حيث تجولوا بحرية في المعرض و التقطوا الصور و أجروا المقابلات و أجاب المتحدث الرسمي لمكتبة الملك عبد العزيز العامة في المعرض الدكتور أحمد بن سيف الدين عن بعض أسئلة الصحفيين.

Director of the British Museum: It was not possible to have an exhibition on Hajj without the patron of the Hajj; the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

On Wednesday, January 25th 2012 a meeting with members of the media in Britain, the Arab and Islamic world was held at the British Museum in London one day before the launch of the exhibition "Hajj: A Journey to the Heart of Islam". Present at the meeting were HRH Prince Muhammad bin Nawwaf bin Abdulaziz Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in London and HE Mr. Faisal Bin Abdulrahman bin Muammar, the General Supervisor of King Abdulaziz Public Library.
In the beginning, Dr. Neil McGregor, the Director of the British Museum explained the idea behind the ​​exhibition, its objectives and divisions. He pointed out to the importance of Hajj as the fifth pillar of Islam and that it is one of the greatest phenomena in the world. He stated that the Hajj has a great impact on the lives of many people. McGregor added that "we cannot address all of the five pillars of Islam in this exhibition, but it is enough to point to the Hajj in two ways: firstly, the spiritual experience pilgrims go through and secondly the logistics of the Hajj ".
The Director of the British Museum went on to explain that this ritual was performed by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) which dated back to Adam (peace be upon him) and through the ages until today. This made us address the method of transportation to Makkah (Mecca) throughout successive centuries down to the present.
At the end of his statement, Dr. McGregor thanked those who provided objects and artefacts to the exhibition including King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh. He also stated that “we need to remember that the duty and care for the Hajj rests on the shoulders of the ruler of Makkah” emphasizing that “this is important and central”. He continued saying:”Today, this responsibility for the Hajj rests on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz”. The museum director made it clear that: "It was not possible to have an exhibition on Hajj without the patron of the Hajj; i.e. the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. So we are honoured to have the presence of the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Prince Muhammad bin Nawwaf bin Abdulaziz here today."

Then HRH the Prince addressed the meeting where he thanked the British Museum, its director and the Hajj Exhibition coordinator Dr. Venetia Porter, Assistant Curator of Islamic and contemporary Middle East at the British Museum as well as HE Mr. Faisal bin Muammar. HRH affirmed the importance of the Hajj in Islam and that it is an obligation upon every Muslim once in a lifetime if he is able. The Ambassador said that: “Pilgrimage comes on top of the concerns of Muslims and the trips they make weather they are men, women, young or old”. He pointed out that the exhibition provides only a glimpse of this great pillar and its evolution over the centuries."
Prince Mohammad also stated that “the Hajj offers wonderful examples of equality and peace among humans, and the Government of the Kingdom is keen on protecting people's lives. This is a top priority for Saudi Arabia and this why it spends a lot of effort and money to serve the pilgrims and to develop the holy sites and the two cities of Makkah and Madinah.”
At the end of his statement, HRH reiterated his thanks for the presence of media and those in charge of the exhibition and expected for the exhibition a great success.
After that, Assistant Curator Dr. Porter stated the difficult decisions made by officials at the museum on how it would reflect the great meaning of the Hajj which has been going on for centuries. Dr. Porter then said: “the exhibition is divided into three parts; the first is about the access roads to the Hajj and the means of transport for pilgrims. The second is on what the pilgrims do in Mecca and the holy sites, the performance of rituals and a description of the place through some of the expressive artefacts and paintings. The third part is on how the Hajj has changed the lives of pilgrims, a description of their journeys and what they brought back to their own countries from Makkah after performing the Hajj.”
The Curator at the British Museum pointed to the precious artefacts as well as the fascinating old and modern photos which came to the exhibition from multiple sources, including, of course, King Abdulaziz Public Library. Venetia Porter gave an example of Darb Zubaydah, where some artefacts from museums in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia dating back to the eighth century are on display.
Dr. Porter concluded her presentation with reference to the scene of standing in front of the Ka’ba which stunned the ancient and modern pilgrims and visitors to the Grand Mosque, who expressed their emotions in various means expressing the magnitude of this place and the holiness of this ritual.
After these brief statements, HE Mr. Faisal Bin Muammar, the General Supervisor of King Abdul Aziz Public Library led the media and journalists on a tour of the contents of the exhibition and answered their questions.
 The British Museum has invited the media for a full day tour of the exhibition one day prior to its inauguration, where they moved freely inside the exhibition, took photos and conducted interviews. At hand was Dr. Ahmad Turkistani the spokesman of King Abdulaziz Public Library at the exhibition where he answered some of the reporters' questions.
